Applications are accepted until February 17, 2023. Around a thousand volunteers to be employed during the festival, both in preparation activities and most actively in organizational processes during the festival – from June 30 to July 9, the NKC said.
"Voluntary work is an integral part of the festival: no major and ambitious event can be considered today without volunteering. According to experience, motivated people honoring the Song Festival tradition apply, and they are essential in many works, from helping creative teams or working in information centers to setting up stages and distributing water to participants. Volunteering is very important and necessary for the success of festivals, which we rightly call the largest joint work in the country," said Daina Markova, executive director of the festival.
You may apply for volunteer work by filling out an electronic form here. Applicants from 16 years of age are invited to apply (persons from 16 to 18 will need parental permission), with good Latvian knowledge (for certain duties – also with English and other foreign languages). The potential volunteer must be prepared to dedicate 20 to 40 hours to volunteering in total, in line with the schedule drawn up by festival organizers.
Catering will be provided to each volunteer if work is carried out for more than four hours a day. The possibility of using Rīga public transport for free will be provided, health and life insurance will be provided, a festival identification card and job equipment will be issued. Festival events will be free for volunteers.
The General XXVII Latvian Song and XVII Dance Festival will take place in Rīga from June 30 to July 9, 2023, its main focus being the 150-year anniversary of the Song Festival tradition.
