The grandest gourd this year was grown by Ingrīda Kuzmicka from Dobele municipality. It weighted 290.5 kilograms and measured 3.61x3.10 meters.
The second place was taken by Guntis Kuzmickis' 258.5-kg heavy berry and the third – Linda Kuzmicka's 225-kilo one.
This was the 18th annual pumpkin contest, organized by Maxima Latvija. The record of this championship was set in 2018 when Luīza Neimane's pumpkin weighed 574 kg.
The prized pumpkins will not have a very long life as Rīga Zoo inhabitants will feast on them soon.
