International Stars Festival to take place in Liepāja in March

From March 9 to 23, the 32th International Stars Festival will take place at the concert hall Great Amber in Liepāja, the festival organizers said.

Among the festival's performers this year will be Canadian pianist Louis Lortie, German violinist Kathrin ten Hagen and French oboist Céline Moinet, Finnish conductor Juha Kangas, national academic choir “Latvia” and internationally recognized opera singers, pianist Aurēlija Šimkus, jazz musician John Roicco and other stage artists.

This year's Liepaja International Star Festival program includes five concerts – listeners will have the opportunity to hear symphony music created by Frédéric Chopin, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Pēteris Vasks. A solo evening of chamber jazz and piano music is also on the list, while the festival will conclude with Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem.

The festival is supported by the Latvian Culture Ministry, State Cultural Capital Foundation, the city of Liepāja, SEB Bank and Poland's Embassy in Rīga.
