Operetta festival returning to Ikšķile

Take note – story published 1 year and 2 months ago

From August 6 to 12, this year's International Operetta Festival will take place in Ikšķile, which will start a series of events for the ten-year anniversary of the Operetta Theater in the town.

At the end of the festival, soloists from Ukraine, Hungary, Lithuania and elsewhere will perform arias and duets in a concert on August 11, the organizers of the festival have announced.

This year will be the fifth iteration of the festival, which has steadily grown in popularity and become a favorite among fans of the Ikšķile Operetta Theater, which is also celebrating its tenth anniversary.

Ukrainian tenor Oleksandrs Chuvpilo, who will visit the festival before a planned concert tour in Spain, remembered his previous visit to the Operetta Festival with fondness: "I remember last year's Operetta Festival in Ikšķile with the most wonderful feelings: great organization, sensitive and very professional conductor Maestro Atvars Lakstīgala and a delightful orchestra," he said.

"In addition, the Latvian audience is simply incredibly great! When I came here for the first time, I was a little worried about the cold mentality of the Baltic audience, but from the first notes I felt a very warm response from the festival audience."

After the closing concert from 10 p.m., the symphonic orchestra of the Operetta Theater and conductor Atvars Lakstīgala invite you to the popular waltz evening at the festival, where the wonderful waltzes of Johann Strauss will be played and members of the public can dance along.
