Latvian conductor Nelsons nominated for Grammy award

Latvian conductor Andris Nelsons and Leipzig's Gewandhausorchester have been nominated for a Grammy Award, according to information on the website.

Nelsons and the orchestra have been nominated in the Best Contemporary Classical Composition category for the rendition of Sofia Gubaidulina's 'The Wrath of God'.

Nelsons has previously been nominated for the Grammy Award three times and also received it three times – in 2016 for the Best Orchestral Performance of Shostakovich: Under Stalin's Shadow - Symphony No. 10, in 2017 for the Best Orchestral Performance of Shostakovich: Under Stalin's Shadow - Symphonies Nos. 5, 8 & 9, and in 2019 for the Best Orchestral Performance of Shostakovich: Symphonies Nos. 4 & 11.
