Riga Cathedral will tell tales in music and sand

On 24 July, international organ music festival in Riga Cathedral will tell the tales of European cathedrals in music and art, organizers said July 23.

Paintings in a special sand painting technique will produce visual stories in parallel to music.

“I will paint during the performance, and the viewer will see it on the big screens. (..) Everything together will create visual saturation,” said sand-animation artist Tatjana Gavrilenko.

“You can't say that pictures will be background or music will be background – everything is designed so that we are both equivalent artists who complete each other,” organist Larisa Carjkova said.
