Latvian beach volleyball duo Tīna Graudiņa and Anastasija Kravčenoka beat Brazilian Ana Ramos and Rebecca Silva with results  21:15, 12:21 and 15:12 on July 28.

The victory puts the Latvian athletes in a hopeful situation to look towards the knock-out game.

This was the first Graudiņa/Kravčenoka victory over the particular Brazilian pair, to whom they had lost twice in the past.

The Latvian Olympic debutants lost the first game against USA's Kelly Claes and Sarah Sponcil.

Latvia is also represented in beach volleyball in Tokyo by Mārtiņš Pļaviņš and Edgars Točs, who were scheduled to play Sunday against the Czech team, but the game was canceled after one of the Czech players tested positive for Covid-19. Organizers announced that the canceled game would count as an automatic win for the Latvian team. Pļaviņš/Točs are scheduled to play Thursday against the Russian Olympic Committee team.
