Dārziņš , who will also be the captain of the Latvian national hockey team, is the fifth hockey player in Latvia's history to be entrusted with carrying the Latvian flag at the Winter Olympics' opening ceremony.
As previously reported, Latvia's delegation to the 2022 Winter Olympics will include more than 100 people, the Latvian Olympic Committee said last week.
Besides 57 athletes, the delegation will also include 43 coaches, four physicians and four physical therapists, as well as officials and support personnel.
The 2022 Winter Olympics will take place from February 4 to 20 in Beijing, China.
