Silver medal for Ķibermanis and crew at bobsleigh World Championships

Oskars Ķibermanis and his team secured a silver medal for Latvia in the 4-man bobsleigh World Championship in Whistler, Canada on March 10, notching up a new track record along the way.

Ķibermanis and Matiss Miknis, Arvis Vilkaste and Janis Strenga, led the field after two of four runs, but was unable to hold off the challenge of reigning champion Francesco Friedrich of Germany on the final two runs, with Friedrich winning by a margin of 0.29 seconds.

Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš was among the first to offer his congratulations, saying "our bobsleighers are among the best in the world!"
