First Ukrainian taxi drivers employed in Latvia

Take note – story published 2 years ago

The first two Ukrainian residents were registered in the taxi drivers register on Friday, the Road Transport Administration said March 25.

The requirements for the Ukrainian people have been reduced. Kristiāns Godiņš, Chairman of the Board of the Road Transport Administration, asked residents to be understanding and responsive if drivers do not immediately understand Latvian. For Ukrainian citizens there are no requirements for the knowledge of the state's official language.

Ukrainian taxi drivers must submit an application, a residence permit or long-term visa with a right to employment, a copy of a driver's licence, and a photo.
