These films reflect the extraordinary lives of people in Latvia and each year serve as a blueprint of the state of affairs in the private lives and aspirations of today's Latvian residents.
This year's second film to be featured, titled David and Goliath, chronicles the life stories of two brothers, Kristaps and Krists. Kristaps, the elder brother, is disabled and has trouble talking, but nevertheless can rap.
His younger brother Krists, meanwhile, is a freestyle BMX biker and one of the best in Latvia at that.
"The brothers' attitude towards one another is of crucial importance. I think that, watching this film, you can learn from its protagonists. They're very simple and nice people, and their simplicity is a veritable example of brotherhood," said award-winning director Olafs Okonovs in an interview with LSM.
