President Levits' message to Latvians abroad: "Latvia is becoming more Latvian"

Latvians living in different time zones around the globe celebrate the 104th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia during the Patriot Week. Egils Levits, President of Latvia, has released a special video message to all Latvians abroad that will be played at diaspora events and receptions held by Latvian embassies globally.

The video message is on YouTube in Latvian but does come with a rough English translation in subtitles.

"It is a day when we think about Latvia more, on [a] much deeper level... there is no other one like Latvia, no better place for us," Levits says, adding that "Latvia is becoming more Latvian".

According to information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, thousands of Latvians came together to celebrate Latvia’s November 18 birthday this week in Belgium, Poland, Australia, Hungary, the United Kingdom,  the United States of America, Austria, Brazil, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, Germany, Sweden, Uzbekistan and elsewere with more celebrations planned.
