State Chancellery's director subject to disciplinary case

Prime Minister Evika Siliņa (New Unity”) has ordered to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the Director of the State Chancellery Jānis Citskovskis in relation to alleged violations in the case of special flights of former Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity), according to the statement in the official publication “Latvijas Vēstnesis” on May 13.

The decision was taken on the basis of the circumstances determined in the interim report of the Service Inspection Commission of May 7, 2024 and violations of legal norms. The interim report concluded that Citskovskis had committed a disciplinary offense, namely an unjustified failure to perform his duties or negligent and poor performance of his duties, including improper handling of financial resources, resulting in material financial loss to the State or serious damage to the State interest.

Along with Siliņa's order, a disciplinary investigation Commission has been set up, which will be chaired by Mihails Papsujevičs, secretary of state at the Ministry of Justice.

In order to ensure a comprehensive and impartial investigation of the disciplinary matter, as well as to prevent the possibility for Citskovskis to interfere with the investigation of the disciplinary matter, Siliņa has decided to suspend Citskovskis from performing the duties of office for the time period of investigation.

During the suspension, the Deputy Director of the State Chancellery in legal matters Inese Gailīte was assigned to perform the duties of Director of the State Chancellery.
