Take note – story published 3 years ago

Economics Minister Jānis Vitenbergs said on Twitter November 13 that he had been in contact with a COVID-19 positive person this week and is currently in self-isolation.

At the moment, the minister feels well and waits indications from the Disease Prevention and Control Center.

The minister's duties will continue to be carried out remotely.

Several ministers have already been in self-isolation or quarantine, including Juris Pūce who announced this week that he should leave the position of Minister for Environmental Protection and Regional Development. The Minister for Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs was also in self-isolation after meeting his Slovenian counterpart. Rīga Mayor Mārtiņš Staķis has been in self-isolation since Wednesday.
