At the end of October, the Latvian State Police (VP) detained Alvis Beketovs, who'd been on Europe's most wanted list since 2020, in Ogre municipality, police said.

Alvis Beketovs had been convicted of sexual abuse against a minor and sentenced to 11 years in prison.

After an eyewitness report, police stopped an Opel Vectra and caught Beketovs driving while heavily intoxicated and without a license.

Beketovs sexually abused a minor while under the influence of alcohol in 2015 and has been sentenced to 11 years in prison, and a European-wide arrest warrant has been issued. So far, Beketovs avoided serving his sentence.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated in connection with driving under the influence of alcohol and without a license.

Beketovs will be taken to prison, the VP reported.
