Drug dealer group detained in Rīga

A group of four persons were detained by State Police in Rīga and Berģi this week in relation to drug charges, police said.

On April 8 this year, the State Police officers, in co-operation with the anti-terrorism unit “Omega” and Special Task Battalion, detained a group of four persons who were engaged in the sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in Riga territory.

The detentions did not take place without incident. One of the suspects in Rīga, Brīvības Street, crashed into a police car, while another did not unlock his vehicle so law enforcement had to break the window.

The detainees were born in 1968, 1992, 1995 and 2000 and none of them have been punished before.

A total of 11 searches were carried out at addresses and cars belonging to detainees, resulting in the seizure of 470 grams of amphetamine, 260 grams of cocaine, 230 grams of marijuana, and 100 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Cash of EUR 27,830 and four cars – three 2021 BMWs and one Audi – were also seized.

The information at the disposal of the State Police shows that the detained persons engaged in the sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and they had developed a range of clients on the Telegram channel.  Two other individuals allegedly linked to the crime have been declared wanted by police.
