Police received information that residents were encountering a job offer related to watching films. Residents are asked to pay a deposit to start this “job.” As a result, more than EUR 20,000 has been defrauded to Latvian residents in a very short time.
Residents have paid the required deposit, but have not received the promised remuneration, as well as have not recovered the paid deposit as previously promised.
Police are currently clarifying the exact circumstances of what happened, as well as identifying all victims.
Potential fraudsters exchange with potential customers via the WhatsApp or Telegram communications app, and during correspondence, customers are asked to deposit funds to the following accounts:
- Paysera account: LT953500010016937724,
- Wiss Europe account: BE38967864697772,
- K & H Bank Zrt. 015 Budapest: HU86104001575052708174751011,
- SAXO PAYMENTS: DE09202208000096429066.
Given the currently high activity of fraudsters, the State Police is urging residents to be careful, critically evaluate any information received, not disclose bank account details to anyone, and not to transfer their financial resources to unknown accounts.
In case money has been defrauded, the police shall invite victims to initially report it to their bank and then to make an application in person at the nearest State Police station or to send an application electronically.
