Two suspected of theft from parcel machines in Rīga, Latvia

Two persons have been detained on suspicion of having stolen goods out of delivery parcel machines,  the State Police said on August 17.

The State Police had received information regarding several doors being pried open and the contents of the parcel machines stolen in Rīga, Imanta and Iļģuciems districts, in June of this year.

Records of video cameras show two individuals, a man and a woman, who allegedly committed the thefts. State Police identified and detained them on Thursday, August 17.

The detained man was born in 2000 and the woman was born in 1994 and both were previously convicted of crimes against property.

According to the information available to the police, these individuals may have stolen from a total of eight parcel machines some €200 worth of goods.

Criminal proceedings on theft have been initiated in connection with the incident. The State Police recalls that no person is found to be guilty until their fault in committing a criminal offense is proven in accordance with the procedures specified by law.
