Building collapses on Satekles Street, Rīga

Thursday afternoon in Rīga, Satekles Street, an uninhabited five-story house collapsed, according to information from the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD).

VUGD received the call to Satekles Street at 14:15. Upon arrival at the site, a building was found to have collapsed on a construction site and at least three cars are located under the structures.

There is no information about injured people.

Evacuation of people from an adjacent building and a crawl of the collapsed structures is underway.

An operational headquarters has been set up at the site to coordinate searches more effectively. It is composed of representatives of VUGD, Latvian Gas, local government police, State Police, and the construction manager.

34 firefighters with six firetrucks are working at the scene.

 

From the photos it can be deduced that the collapsed building was at the address Satekles Street 1C, pictured below.

It was on a construction site of the new Satekles Business Center office complex. The real estate developer on the site is Linstow Baltic and the main construction company is Bukoteks. Bukoteks' representatives told newswire LETA that there are no comments on the incident at the moment.
