63 new Covid-19 cases in Latvia Saturday

On Saturday, August 7, Latvia recorded 63 new cases of Covid-19 infection, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 139,347. 

Of 10,240 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 0.6% were positive.

The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants rose from 47.6 Friday to 48.7 Saturday.

 

 

No Covid-related deaths were confirmed. The death toll since the start of the pandemic currently stands at 2,559.

There are currently 49 people being treated for Covid-19 symptoms in Latvian hospitals, of which 8 are categorized as having serious symptoms.

On August 6 a total of 3,402 people received a first vaccine dose and 1,829 received a second dose. 

Meanwhile, in Estonia 246 new Covid cases were registered Friday and in Lithuania, 496 new cases were recorded.

There is a Latvian language hotline 8989 which allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv/.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme.

All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
