The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 125,689.
Of 14,603 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 5% were positive, up on the 3.7% rate the day before. 4% rate is regarded as the threshold at which the virus is spreading in an uncontrolled manner.
The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants reduced slightly for the first time in a while from 462.8 Tuesday to 450.3 Wednesday. Anything over 200 is classed as a "very high risk" pandemic situation under the government's four-stage "traffic light" system.
