The LNK and RE&RE association of construction companies will rebuild the Mežaparks Open-air stage, reported Latvian Radio on April 18.

The agreement is due to be inked April 20. The stage should be rebuilt in time for the National Song and Dance Festival next year.

As reported, the offer by the association of Re&Re and LNK Industries stands at €32,359,156. This exceeds the maximum amount of financing for the project by about €9m.

The other two applicants in the tender were turned down either for not meeting technical requirements, or due to lack of experience, said Riga City Council's Property Department Director Olegs Burovs.

"I can tell you for sure that the Song [and Dance festival] will happen on time, and everything will be alright," he told Latvian Radio.

Burovs also expressed pleasure over the fact that local construction firms are picked for the rebuild.

LNK Industries Partnership has also been picked for increasing the number of seats and rebuilding the existing ones at the Daugava Stadium, another project important in the context of the 2018 National Song and Dance Festival.

As reported, the Mežaparks Open-air stage is to be rebuilt until the 2018 National Song and Dance Festival.

The first reconstruction phase is to be completed by June 2018.

Of the total amount of the project's cost, 43% will be spent on reconstruction of the spectator area, 22% on various equipment in the spectator area, 25% on transport infrastructure, and 10% on utilities.
