Over the weekend, the State Police will step up their efforts to ensure comprehensive monitoring of road traffic and compliance with epidemiological safety requirements, Latvian Television reported December 30.

Although the government decided that there will be no time limit for providing economic services and organizing activities during the New Year's night, the police recalled that all other epidemiological safety requirements, such as ensuring distance, the number of people at the table, fixed and personalized seats in cultural events, remained in force.

Similarly, on New Year's Eve and night, only persons with a valid Covid-19 vaccination or recovery certificate will be allowed to provide and receive catering services.

“The police have information that there are various calls circulating in the public space to await the New Year with such gathering and celebrating that would possibly violate the epidemiological requirements of this moment. We therefore call on citizens to be conscientious and careful, to celebrate a holiday in a narrow circle, avoiding a broad gathering," the police said.
