On Tuesday, November 29, in Rīga's Bolderāja suburb, at Stūrmaņu Street 3, a concrete section detached from the roof and fell into the attic of a five-storey apartment block. 24 people were evacuated from the building as a precaution, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) said. No injuries were reported.

Experts from the Rīga City Construction Board surveyed the building and banned residents from returning until an in-depth examination had been performed. By 20:08 VUGD was finished at the scene.

VUGD spokeswoman Ilze Dāme-Birziņa pointed out that the ban on residents returning was only applied in the part of the building where dangerous structures were present. Residents returned to the rest of the building freely.

Rīga Municipal Police Chief Public Relations Officer Toms Sadovskis said that 24 people had been evacuated.

A public bus was initially deployed to allow the evacuated people to stay in the warm. Two residents were housed in a service hotel, while the others have refused accommodation because they have found places to stay.

According to the information available to Sadovskis, the building is managed by the Rīga House Manager (RNP), which will have to carry out an expert survey of the building in the coming days.
