Sunday morning was coldest in eight years in Latvia

On Sunday morning, the air temperature at the observation station in the center of Riga dropped to -20 degrees – for the first time since January 2016, according to the Latvian Centre for Environment, Geology and Meteorology (LVGMC).

The airport “Rīga” station recorded -25 C, the lowest air temperature on the site since January 2021.

In the eastern part of Latvia, the cold in places dropped to -30 degrees overnight on Sunday, and it is the coldest in the country since January 17, 2021.

Monday will still be chilly, but on Tuesday, air will warm to -2 C to +3 C across Latvia.
