Take note – story published 6 years ago

The Latvian capital got a new landmark July 6 with a giant flag  being run up a giant flagpole.

The new fixture has been erected as part of Latvia's centenary celebrations and sits on AB Dambis, a spit of land in the River Daugava opposite Riga's Old Town and the castle.

The flagpole is 60 meters tall.

Here's a webcam view so you can check its current state of flutter wherever you are in the world.
