In order to examine the safety of cultural events that are scheduled to be open for persons who are vaccinated against or have overcome Covid-19, the Culture Ministry (KM) along with health experts and event organizers are to implement pilot projects as of June 10, KM said June 6.

In total, six pilot projects are scheduled to be carried out at four cultural venues. On June 10, there will be two cinema sessions at Kino Citadele, on June 11 an open-air concert at the Dzintari Concert hall, on June 12 two shows at the Valmiera Drama theater and on June 13 a show at an outdoor stage at Hanzas perons.

The selected pilot projects cover different types of public events (theater, concert, film), venues (indoor and outdoor) and audience types (only vaccinated or mixed).

Pilot projects aim to develop and test preconditions for the safe and economically justified re-launch of cultural and entertainment industries. The population vaccinated against Covid-19 is expected to access the possibility of visits to cultural events as of June 15.

The first pilot project from took place in the museum sector at the Latvian National Museum of Art. The pilot project developed safe guidelines by allowing 4,040 people to attend an exhibition in two weeks.
