Riding the wave of a new career high, Jelena Ostapenko (WTA 10) just beat Paraguay's Veronica Cepede Royg (WTA 77) at the Seoul Open to advance to the semi-finals, organizers say.

She beat Cepede Royg 6-3, 6-1 with an apparent ease, making it the fifth semi-final of a wonderful year where the young Latvian hopeful emerged as the surprise French Open winner.

She will now face Thailand's Luksika Kumkhum (WTA 155), who if all goes well will be her penultimate hurdle in the battle for the $250,000 prize pool.
