It is the first time she has reached the quarter finals at Wimbledon and comes immediately after her amazing triumph at the French Open, raising the possibility of back-to-back grand slam wins for a player few outside Latvia had heard of a few weeks ago.

On her 8th match point, #RG17 champion Jelena Ostapenko beats No.4 seed Elina Svitolina 6-3, 7-6 pic.twitter.com/z577KbOFvX
Having closed in on victory, the final point proved the hardest of all, with Ostapenko closing out the match at the eighth time of asking.
She will meet either Ana Konjuh or Venus Williams in the quarter final. Let's hope for more of her now trademark double fist-pump celebration soon!
