Latvia's tennis sensation Jelena Ostapenko made it through to the third round of the women's singles at Wimbledon July 5 with a victory over Caanda's Francoise Abanda.

Despite losing the first set and never really finding her top form until the end of the match, Ostapenko's aggression and daring strokeplay saw her overcome her opponent's consistent and powerful serve 4-7, 7-6, 6-3.

When it mattered she showed an impressive ability to up her game. You can watch the full match above (may be subject to geoblocking in some territories).

Ostapenko will be back in action on July 7, when she will be attempting to record her tenth straight win in grand slam tournaments. It will be the first time she has played in the third round at Wimbledon.

She will have a great chance to make it to the latter stages of the tournament as her opponent will be unseeded Italian Camila Georgi.

There was a less happy result for Anastasija Sevastova however, who lost in the second round to local favorite Heather Watson in straight sets.

Meanwhile Latvia's attention will turn to Court 3 at 16:45 Riga time on July 6 when Ernests Gulbis faces a tough second round match in the men's singles against Juan Martin Del Potro.
