National Alliance offers to manage post of Economics Minister

Take note – story published 2 years ago

The National Alliance will invite the Prime Minister and all coalition partners to agree on changes to the coalition agreement, providing for the possibility that NA advance the new Economics Minister, said Raivis Dzintars, chair of the NA faction.

Dzintars said he understood the Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš issuing the order of resignation of the Economics Minister Jānis Vitenbergs and that Kariņš had acted "to the letter" with the coalition agreement.

At the same time, he said the coalition agreement had “not only letters but also a spirit” and was written when there were more MPs in the faction of KPV LV supporting the government. After the withdrawal of Economics Minister, four members of KPV LV quit the faction.

So, NA now calls on Kariņš and all coalition partners to agree on changes to the coalition agreement. The faction offers to take responsibility for the Ministry of Economics.

The National Alliance is prepared to advance Vitenbergs, who has expressed readiness to continue as Economics Minister. He is also prepared to consider the possibility of returning to the Saeima.

With such a position, the National Alliance will go into negotiations over the coalition's future work, scheduled for Friday, May 14.
