Two wins in a row for Latvia's hockey heroes

The Latvian ice hockey team defeated the Norwegian national team 2:1 in the world championship game on Wednesday in Rīga, significantly strengthening their chances in the fight for a place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

At the halfway point of the group stage, Latvia has now won two and lost two, but importantly seems to have momentum and positivity going into the remaining matches.

The goals for Latvia were scored by Rodrigo Ābols and Toms Andersons, and despite a valiant fightback by the Norwegians, Latvia was able to maintain the necessary control of the puck. All three goals came in the second period of the match.

Next up will be matches against Slovenia on Friday, Kazakhstan on Saturday and Switzerland on Tuesday. The four strongest teams in the group will advance to the quarter-finals knock-out stages of the tournament.
