Train and public transport movement disrupted due to storm

Due to the storm damage to the electricity overhead lines, train traffic on the railway sections Dubulti - Tukums 2 and Olaine - Jelgava has been suspended on Monday, the company "Pasažieru vilciens" informed LSM.lv.

In the direction of Jūrmala, trains can only run from Rīga to Zasulauks and back.

Train services on these sections are promised to be restored as soon as the damage has been repaired.

Passengers are invited to keep up-to-date with train timetables on the Vivi mobile app and website.

Rīga municipal transport company Rīgas Satiksme Ltd also said that due to the weather conditions in many parts of the city, streets are flooded and trees have fallen, making traffic difficult. Several routes are subject to changes and disruption. For example, the 5th and 7th trams are running with difficulties due to debris.

You can follow all the latest changes on the website.

On July 29, "storm tickets" will be valid on Rīgas Satiksme public transport - drivers can use public transport in the capital free of charge by presenting a valid registration certificate for a vehicle.

Meanwhile, Ilze Salna, a representative of Riga Airport, told Latvian Television that so far all flights have been operated at the airport, however, passengers are urged to follow the announcements of their airlines during the day, as the storm may also cause flight delays.

Later Salna confirmed to Latvian Radio that two flights had been canceled due to the storm.
