In addition to the state funding, the program is to attract another €12.5 million from EU funds and other external financial sources, revenue from economic activities, partners, and supporters, the ministry says.
State budget funding of €10 million is to be invested in the implementation of the content of the 28 projects of the (un)rest program (€5.5 million), Latvia's image and international campaigns (€1.3 million), €2 million for the administration of the program, €1 million to cover the costs of related activities of other state institutions, and €160,000 to support research and monitoring work.
It is planned that the program of the project "Liepāja - European Capital of Culture 2027" will consist of more than 500 different events.
A target has been set: each euro of public funding invested in the implementation of the entire program generates a return of 3 - 5 euros. With the implementation of Liepāja 2027, the objective is to achieve at least a 15% increase in the number of overnight stays compared to the previous year (at least 20% if the occupancy rate of short-term rental accommodation is also taken into account in the statistics).
