New chair for Latvian banking industry body

Starting from October 1st, 2024, Uldis Cērps will take over the leadership of the Finance Latvia Association (FNA) as its Chair of the Board, the organization announced July 23.

Finance Latvia is an industry advocacy organisation whose members include most of the country's banks, plus leasing companies, asset managers and FinTechs.

Cērps will take over the leadership of the FNA from the current Chair of the Board Sanita Bajāre, who has led the organization since 2019.

Commenting on his appointment, Uldis Cērps stated: “One of my main priorities will be to continue strengthening cooperation with the policymakers and dialogue with the society at large, while actively participating in the European Union’s legislative and international standard-setting processes. Our common goal of the financial sector is to promote long-term welfare of our people, as well as entrepreneurs by ensuring the access to high quality and modern financial services.”

Kerli Vares, chair of Finance Latvia’s Council, said: “I am pleased that one of the world’s leading finance experts, who is committed to strengthening the representation of the Latvian financial sector, will join the professional team, to ensure that the sector continues to be a stable foundation for the country’s economy in the long term. I extend my gratitude to Sanita Bajāre for the five years she served as the Chair of the Board, which have been both challenging and dynamic, and wish her success in her future endeavors.”
