Little change visible in Latvia's unemployment rate

Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) estimates published July 22 show that in June 2024 the actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 6.5 %.

The has reduced by just 0.1 percentage points over the month, while over the year actual unemployment rate has not changed at all.

The unemployment rate for men fell by 0.3 percentage points to 6.8 % and for women did not change, staying at 6.1 %.

The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) was 5.1 %. It has reduced by 0.1 percentage points over the month and by 0.4 percentage points over the year. The figure as different because not all uneployed persons are registered with the SEA.

In June 2024 there were 62.0 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia (29.4 thousand women and 32.6 thousand men), which is 0.9 thousand fewer than a month ago but 0.5 thousand more than a year ago. Over the month, the number of unemployed men reduced by 1.0 thousand and of unemployed women increased by 0.1 thousand.
