Roadworks continue across Latvia

The road construction season continues, with work underway on 60 road sections. "Latvian State Roads" invites drivers to allocate extra time on the road and to observe the traffic organization and temporary traffic signals.

Additional traffic restrictions will be in place on Saturday in the Talsi region and on Sunday in the Sigulda area.

Information on all construction sections and traffic restrictions on the national road network is available on the construction map on the "Latvian State Roads" (LVC) website.

On Saturday, August 24, a 2-kilometer section of the local road Spāres skola-Mordanga-Mazruņķi (V1384) will be closed to traffic during the road race at Mordanga (11:00-15:30) in Talsi municipality.

On Sunday, August 25, 10:00-18:00, the Latvian Cyclists' Unity Ride will take place in the vicinity of Sigulda, so there will be intermittent traffic restrictions on the Vidzeme motorway (A2), Valmiera motorway (A3), regional roads Ragana-Turaida (P7), Augšlīgatne-Skrīveri (P32), Inciems-Sigulda-Ķegums (P8) and some local roads near Sigulda. The State Police (VP) will be on duty along the race route.

Major traffic restrictions on main national roads:

  • Vidzeme motorway (A2) from the turn to Cēsis (P20) to Rīdzene - five traffic lights and a local detour, speed limits 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time 35 minutes;
  • Jelgava motorway (A8) from Dalbe to the bridge over the Vircava River, speed limit 70 and 50 km/h, estimated crossing time 20 to 40 minutes;
  • Ventspils motorway (A10) from the turn to Ugāle Mill (V1323) to Ūdensvada Road, traffic is controlled by traffic lights or traffic regulators in up to three sections, speed limits 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time 45 minutes.
