Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Atis Švinka ("Progressives") stated that the project demonstrates Canada's ability to act quickly as lead nation among the NATO contingent stationed in Latvia .
"This project is one more huge confirmation that in a very short time Canada has been able to conduct this project. Within a year, from idea to realization, a very short time... As we continue to develop, a signal is sent to the potential aggressor that we, together with our allies, are ready to defend our country," Švinka said.
The Canadian-led NATO multinational brigade consists of 14 countries and will ultimately comprise more than 3,500 soldiers at full combat readiness by 2026.
