Rīga airport plans multi-storey parking

Riga Airport has signed a EUR 248,000 contract with BM-projekts for the development of a multi-storey car park construction project, the airport said July 11.

The 400-space short-term parking lot is to be built next to the new terminal building.

The construction of the multi-storey parking lot is one of the stages in the implementation of the new passenger terminal project of RIX Riga Airport. The contract requires the full construction project to be developed and approved by the construction authority within nine months.

The parking will have four floors and will be connected to the airport's Rail Baltica station and access roads. The contract requires the design to include safe pedestrian access to both the airport terminal and the railway station, as well as motorcycle, moped, and bicycle parking.

Solar panels will be installed on the roof of the car park, and the overall design will also include sustainable choice and use of building materials and equipment, the airport says.
