Zemitāna Bridge reconstruction planned to start this season

The Riga City Council (RD) has decided to allocate up to EUR 24.2 million for the reconstruction of the Jorģa Zemitāna Bridge, allocating up to EUR 3.6 million from the municipal budget and borrowing EUR 20.6 million from the State Treasury, the municipality said.

The reconstruction of the Zemitāna Bridge is planned to start this construction season, with 18 months from the start of construction to complete the work.

Andrejs Urtāns, head of the Transport Infrastructure Administration of the Regional Council, said at the council meeting that the pedestrian stairs will be closed during the construction works, but an alternative route will be provided for pedestrians. The public transport stop on the bridge will also be closed for a while.
