On the first day of early voting for the European Parliament (EP) elections, 13,127 people or 0.85% of the electorate have voted, according to data from the Central Election Commission (CVK).

The main EP election day in Latvia is June 8. However, there are three early voting days when people can vote before the main polling day during certain hours: on June 3, 6 and 7.

On June 8, the stations will be open 8:00 to 20:00.

On Monday, June 3, citizens could vote from 8:00 to 13:00. On Thursday, June 6, stations are open 16:00 to 20:00, and on Friday, June 7 from 13:00 to 18:00.

945 polling stations operate across the country.

On Monday, June 3, 13,127 citizens or 0.85% of the electorate voted.  The most active were the Rīga stations with 4,514 people coming to vote, followed by Vidzeme with 3,989, Zemgale with 1,511, Kurzeme with 1,306 and Latgale 1,089.

CVK also received 1,603 votes from abroad via post. But these will be added to the statistics on June 9, said the commission.

In the 2019 elections, on the first early voting day, 2.5% of the electorate voted.

Voters are reminded to take ID with them to polling stations. Citizens of Latvia and citizens of other European Union member states residing in Latvia and entered into the Register of Voters of Latvia have the right to elect the European Parliament. To participate in elections a voter on Election Day must be at least 18 years old.
