Time spent in detention, a total of five days, was included in the serving of the sentence.
The verdict can be appealed to Riga Regional Court.
The woman has been accused of publicly praising and justifying Russia's crimes against peace and war crimes in Ukraine, as well as the genocide committed by the USSR, crimes against humanity, crimes against peace, and the commission of war crimes in Latvia.
According to the indictment, Kreile posted a homemade Russian flag reading "God protect Latvia," a homemade Russian flag with no inscription, as well as a homemade Russian flag reading "Путин мой друг" (Putin my friend) in the windows of her residence from March 7, 2023 to June 15, 2023, for the purpose of publicly expressing her support for Russia.
The woman also posted consecutive white, blue and red adhesive tapes depicting the Russian flag as well as a red certificate showing the Russian coat of arms and the inscription "МВД России" (Russian Ministry of the Interior).
She also posted a photo of four women, one of whom wore a red dress with the symbol of the USSR, sickle and hammer. Similarly, in the background was a piece of cloth, in which the colours white, blue and red are displayed in sequence, depicting the Russian flag.
The accused woman does not admit her guilt in the charge against her.
At the end of May, another criminal case was referred to Riga City Court, in which Kreile was accused. According to the indictment, a cloth in the color of a US flag was placed on the windows at Kreiles' residence, while a photo of two people in uniforms similar to the USSR army, as well as an image similar to the USSR flag, was placed on the fabric background. The trial date has not been set at this time.
Kreile has been seen many times in public places and public events, carrying a shoulder bag with the symbol "Z," which is used in Russian propaganda resources as a symbol of support for Russian hostilities in Ukraine.
The Baltic Centre for Investigative Journalism "Re: Baltica" previously reported that Kreile is a housewife who was born and raised in Latvia, but knows few words in Latvian. The protester is said to have woken up in her during the Covid-19 pandemic when the entrance to the store required a vaccination certificate. Then, too, the first clashes with law enforcement culminating after Russia's invasion of Ukraine have begun.
The woman has repeatedly told journalists that she does not stand for war or for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
