Letters from Donetsk blog describes life in the occupied city

The Centre for East European Policy Studies has embarked on publishing a blog titled "Letters from Donetsk", showing daily life in the city of Donetsk, occupied by pro-Russian forces, reported Latvian Television on Monday.

The first installment of the blog can be read (in English) here. The Russian version of the blog will be published regularly on the LSM Russian news website.

Communications manager Ieva Dzelme-Romanovska told Latvian Television that other bloggers have been found dead in Donetsk, so the woman, who writes under an assumed name for anonymity, is very brave indeed.

The first blog post shows the woman trying to do ordinary things, such as taking photos (in a city where taking photos is banned).

She also writes about people - even the "liberators" themselves - who are being detained for criticizing the powers that be and generally describes the nightmare that is still ongoing in the ravaged city of Donetsk.
