Russian singer 'Irakli' is not a hit in Latvia

Latvia's list of people declared persona non grata received another pitch-perfect addition July 30.

Foreign Minister Baiba Braže said she had added Russian singer Irakli Pirtskhalava – stage name 'Irakli' – to the already lengthy collection of undesirables compiled since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The crooner has Georgian roots, though he was born in Moscow and is a Russian citizen. He had been booked by the 'First' nightclub in Rīga to perform on August 8, but it will be hard to project his voice all the way from the eastern border, so he'll likely have to sing in his bath instead.

He is now barred from entering Latvia indefinitely and is free to follow the advice he handed out in his 2018 hit "Don't cry like a girl".
