Latvia to invest in journalist safety

The Ministry of Culture (KM) has signed a co-operation agreement worth EUR 20,000 with the Latvian Journalists' Association (LŽA) to promote the safety of journalists, the KM said August 5.

The contract is valid until 31 July 2025.

LŽA will be the Latvian national contact point for the Council of Europe (CoE) safety of journalists campaign "Journalists Matter", as well as participate in international forums and events on safety of journalists.

LŽA will receive state budget funding of EUR 20,000 for this task.
