Early voting in EP elections continues Thursday in Latvia

Early voting for the European Parliament elections continues on Thursday, June 6. 945 polling stations in Latvia will be open from 16:00 to 20:00.

Advance voting will continue on Friday June 7, when polling stations will be open from 13:00 to 18:00. On June 8, polling stations will be open from 8:00 to 20:00.

You must be aged 18 and over to vote, and need a passport or eID card. You can vote at any polling station without prior registration.

The locations of the polling stations are summarized here. On June 8, 50 polling stations will also be open to Latvian citizens abroad.

As reported, on Monday, June 3, 13,127 people, or 0.85% of those eligible to vote, used their first opportunity to vote in advance in Latvia. 

Those who, for health or other reasons, cannot go to the polling station, can vote at home by submitting a form containing name, surname, personal identity number, address, phone number, door code for apartment buildings. The form can be brought by a trusted person to the nearest polling station.

The largest number of voters who took part in advance voting on Monday were from the Riga constituency - 5,049, followed by voters from the Vidzeme (4,074), Zemgale (1,569), Kurzeme (1,335) and Latgale (1,100) constituencies. However, the highest turnout on the first day of the preliminary voting was observed in Vidzeme, where 1.03% of eligible voters cast their ballot, while the lowest turnout was observed in Latgale, where 0.58% of eligible voters cast their ballot.
