Competition for board of unified Latvian public media announced

The Public Electronic Mass Media Council (SEPLP) has announced an open competition for the positions of members of the Board of the future state limited liability company "Latvijas Sabiedriskais medijs" (Latvian Public Service Media), SEPLP said July 29.

SEPLP has launched the merger of Latvian Radio (LR) and Latvian Television (LTV), as well as LSM.lv to create a stronger and better-resourced public service media company. The unified Latvian Public Service Media will be operational from January 1 2025. The name of the combined company will be "Latvijas Sabiedriskais medijs", but the familiar brands of Latvian Radio and Latvian Television programs and services will continue to exist.

The competition is open for a Chairman of the Board, a Board Member for Program and Service Development, a Board Member for Financial Management, a Board Member for Technology Management and a Board Member for Human Resources Management.

Applicants are invited to apply by August 23, 2024.

"The election of the Board of Directors will be one of the most important events in the process of creating the merged public service media. This is a unique opportunity to lead unprecedented change processes in the Latvian media environment. We therefore invite candidates with a broad vision, the ability to inspire and deliver - both those who come from a media background and those who have experience and success in other sectors," said SEPLP Chairman Jānis Siksnis.

The competition will be held in three rounds.

More information on the competition is available on the SEPLP website.
