Some emergency team services will get more costly in Latvia

The Emergency Medical Service's (NMPD) paid services will get more expensive, according to changes to the institution's price list prepared by the Ministry of Health (VM), LETA reports.

The VM stresses that these changes will affect only those natural and legal persons who use the paid services provided by the NMPD.

For example, it is planned that a call to the NMPD when it is not an emergency will cost €6.59 more, i.e. €91.52. Last year, there were 3,322 such calls.

A call to a person who does not receive healthcare services paid for by the state budget for an emergency will cost €7.25 more, or €198.93. In 2023, 1,489 such calls were received.

Transporting a patient to the nearest hospital at his/her own request, if there are no medical contraindications, will cost €92.67, €5.39 more than before. Last year, this paid service was provided 104 times.

Calling an intensive care/emergency medical team within Latvia will cost €8.67 more, at €108.32 per hour. This team consists of an emergency doctor, a physician's assistant, and an ambulance driver.

A call for a doctor's assistant within Latvia will cost €89.14 per hour, an increase of €7.34. This team consists of two emergency medical assistants and a driver of an ambulance.

A call for a specialized team within Latvia will cost €113.90 per hour, an increase of €8.74. This team consists of a specialist doctor, an assistant ambulance doctor, and an ambulance driver.

Calling a resuscitation team within Latvia will cost €8.90 more - up to €118.01 per hour. This team consists of an anesthetist, an emergency physician's assistant and an ambulance driver.

The cost of providing medical assistance at events, paid consultations, training, and other services provided by the NMPD will also increase.

The changes to the NMPD price list will be discussed by the Government on Tuesday, July 16.
